Rare set of ‘Ariadne’ fauteuils by Friso Kramer for Auping

3,200.00

Rare set of ‘Ariadne’ easy chairs designed by the Dutch Industrial designer Friso Kramer. Kramer designed the ‘Ariadne’ serie for Auping in 1954, but unfortunately I don’t know until when this serie was produced. Auping is a high-end Dutch bedroom manufacturer that collaborates with well-known designers.

The easy chairs are, except for a small hole in the skai leather, in nearly mint condition. I doubt whether the damage is so big that it needs to be repaired. It’s very stable and for now I’ll leave it as it is. Also, as you can see, one chair has rosewood armrests and the other has beech.

Nevertheless, this set was bought as a couple in the 1950s and is a good example of post-war modernism in the Netherlands. Please note that the chairs are still in full original condition and extremely rare today. Very sturdy. Price is for the set.

H x w x d = 73-36 x 65 x 68 cm / 28.7-14.2 x 25.6 x 26.8 inch.
