IKEA ‘MTP’ Wardrobe by Marian Grabinski for IKEA, 1963, Natural Oak

1,950.00

Beautiful IKEA wardrobe that was designed as a wedding gift for Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA.

The wardrobe is made of natural oak veneer with all edges in full oak, which limits the damage. The wardrobe has acquired a beautiful warm colour over time, and has a strong architecture with beautiful straight lines.

Kamprad liked this design so much, that in 1963 it was available in all IKEA stores as the MTP series. And for a reason, it’s a beautiful example of Mid-Century Scandinavian design.

The cabinet is in excellent condition, apart from a minimal wear and tear.

Please note that it wasn’t until 1963 that IKEA’s first branch outside Sweden opened. It was Norway that got the honor. The first branch in Denmark only came in 1969! Like I said…it’s a rare piece.

H x W x D = 148 x 110 x 40 cm / 58.3 x 43.3 x 15.7 inch
